Settings Guide

Configure text detection, merging behavior, translation options, and performance settings below.

Overlay Permission for Floating Button and Text Boxes ▼
  1. Open phone Settings
  2. Go to Apps
  3. Select the Screen Machine Translation app
  4. Tap "Display over other apps"
  5. Enable "Allow display over other apps"
  6. Return to the app
Vertical Box Merge ▼
  1. Enable this option to merge detected text boxes vertically.
  2. Turn on "Vertical Reverse" if the source language is written from right to left.
  3. Adjust "Vertical Height" to control the minimum height difference (in pixels) allowed to merge text boxes.
  4. Adjust "Vertical Width" to control the minimum width difference (in pixels) allowed to merge text boxes.
  5. Boxes are merged when their width and height differences are within the defined limits. The comparison happens successively, meaning newly merged boxes are compared again and can merge further.
Horizontal Box Merge ▼
  1. Enable this option to merge detected text boxes horizontally.
  2. Adjust "Horizontal Height" to control the minimum height difference (in pixels) allowed to merge text boxes.
  3. Adjust "Horizontal Width" to control the minimum width difference (in pixels) allowed to merge text boxes.
  4. Boxes are merged when their width and height differences are within the defined limits. The comparison happens successively, meaning newly merged boxes are compared again and can merge further.
Crop Region ▼
  1. Enable to restrict text detection to a specific screen area.
  2. Define the crop boundaries to match the region of interest.
  3. Limiting the processing area reduces computation load and improves overall performance.
Auto Translation ▼
  1. Enable this option to automatically translate detected text on the screen.
  2. Set the delay time to 3 seconds or more for safe operation.
  3. Using a shorter delay or skipping the crop step may increase CPU usage and cause your device to heat up.
Subtitle Translation (Experimental) ▼
  1. Enable this option to translate subtitles on the screen.
  2. This feature is experimental and may not work perfectly in all videos.
  3. >This feature requires cropping. Hold the floating button to open Quick Settings, enable Crop, then select the subtitle region. Translated subtitles will appear above the cropped area.
